Members of the Oil, Chemical and Atomic Workers International Local 5-348 in Council Bluffs, Iowa, joined the nationwide oil refinery strike Monday, January 9, 1980. Union members huddled around a heater outside the gates of the Standard Oil Division of Amoco Oil Company’s pipeline terminal and said that truckers seemed to be honoring their picket lines.
